Did you have any secret hiding places as a kid? Either places you hid or places you hid stuff?

hmm, not really…although my sister and I built a fort in the living room once and left it up for a few days, lol. As for places where I hid stuff, I really wanted one of those hollow books—the kind that looks like a hardcover classic, but you open it up and put stuff in? I tried to make one, but it didn’t go over so well, so I ruined a perfectly good book for nothing :\ And then years later, I found a real hollow book, so I bought it. lol

What’s your favorite Diana Gabaldon book?

The first three Outlander books are my favorites (Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager). I haven’t read the latest (An Echo in the Bone) yet, even though it came out a while ago. I also own the Lord John books, but I started the first one and couldn’t really get into the story at the time.

what would you do if you didn’t knit? (the horror! hehe)

I literally gasped! hehe. Probably go crazy ;) But before I went crazy, I think I’d read a lot more than I do now. I knit in my spare time, but if I didn’t knit, I’m pretty sure I’d use that time to read through my book stash (which sometimes rivals my yarn stash).

what were some things you wanted to be when you grew up?

My earliest memory was wanting to be a teacher (this was when I was in kindergarten). Then I didn’t have anything in particular in mind until I was around 10, at which point I decided I wanted to be an actor. I have no idea why/how/whatfor I had this idea, since I am painfully shy and always have been. Sometimes I wish I had pursued it, but honestly, I don’t think I would have been very good at it.

Then in my teens I wanted to be a writer, until I realized that I’m not a very good writer, or at least not good enough to earn a living wage from it. lol But it didn’t stop me from becoming an English major when I started college. I think I switched to being a journalism major for about a day (not formally, just considered it briefly), but decided I’m better suited to studying English. I also thought about becoming an English teacher (hearkening back to my first ‘what I want to be when I grow up’ memory). But I don’t think I’d be a very good teacher because I’m…not very patient with other people, haha.

So now I’m basically an English major with no clear direction. LOL Actually, right now I’d like to work in a library again, so hopefully I’ll be able to make that happen sometime in the future. :)

Do you ever feel weird, left out, abnormal b/c you don’t have kids? (I do, that’s why I’m asking, I obvs don’t think you are any of those things!)

Definitely! I think I feel this way mostly at work because the majority of women my age already have kids or are pregnant. I used to feel like a freak, but I’m more comfortable with it now. It’s such a personal choice, and the thing that grates my nerves the most is when people ask me, “So when are you going to have kids?” It was much worse when I was married, but since my bf and I are together with no immediate plans to marry, I rarely get asked that question. ;D

Once in a while, I’ll feel left out, but at this point in my life I have a lot of other things I want to do, and motherhood just isn’t at the top of my list. Things could always change, of course. But for now I’m content to be different :)

What’s the best place near you to get a drink?

I have no idea because I don’t drink! I have nothing against it morally or anything, I just don’t like the taste or smell of alcohol.

have you ever had dinoguan (sp?) - i think it’s pork in pork’s blood but the way i spell it makes it sound like dinosaur bat poo. which is kind of what it looks like.

I haven’t had it, thankfully! According to my mom, it’s delicious—but then again, she’s eaten all kinds of weird stuff, like snake and squid and probably other things I’ve never heard of. Luckily, my parents stuck to preparing safer dishes when I was growing up!
